Road Update 1

So far so good the only complication I have had was finding a place for an oil change and a place to ditch the trailer so I could get it done. This seemed like a near impossible task and the ladies house that I parked in front of was not very happy about the trailer being there but it was already un-hitched. I manged to get it changed and re-hitched in under 40 minutes and she pleasantly waved good bye. I wounder if she stood there in her lawn the whole time?

I find that the joy of driving cross country quickly wears off when towing a trailer that is 30′ long by 8′6″ wide. Especial on the wonderfully maintained roads of Chicago. After 1827 miles of driving, numerous hotel rooms and one on-water demo I’m in one of my favorite towns of all times… Sort of. I would much rather be in the heart of Denver but I guess the outskirts on Colfax Ave. will have to do for this trip.

All that stands between me and a day at the beach is another 1027 miles, the Rockie Mountains, Sin City, and the Mojave Desert oh and some forest fires ravaging southern California. Till then!

On the herizon

There are so many projects on the table right now that I simply haven’t had time to to write about the new ones or update the old. The root Surfboard project, finished and surfed! Tartan 30 refresh just getting underway…sort of. Ring light for a point and shoot, coming soon. And last but not least the time sucker ie the west coast tour for work, I’m going to try and post regularly with photos form the 8000 mile journey.

Heart Break On Valentines Day… Its Not What You Think!

I gotta say I don’t like this growing up thing but at the same time its exciting to begin to see how all of my hard work could begin to pay off or at lease put me back into debt.  With no Valentine’s day obligations I decided to embark on something very new me, house hunting.  After spending the better part of the day browsing different websites I cobbled together a list of seven houses to look at.  Now I didn’t talk to a realtor I was just going to drive by to see what I could see and check the neighborhoods out.

After the first three I was starting to think I had wasted a day and realized that the pictures the realtors post really don’t show much of anything.  The next couple had some potential but didn’t leave me with any desire to go back and take a second look.  With the sun setting and from the Google satellite images I had seen earlier I had little hope for my last stop but it was on the way home so I figured I would give it a chance.  As I got closer I passed a favorite bar of mine and I was getting closer to West Annapolis were many of my friends live. Things were looking up.  When I got there I see this little bungalow that has clearly seen better days and definitely showed its 60 years of age.  It was PERFECT, with a great back yard and separate structure that would make a great office.  With a little tlc this was it I had to have it, that night I talked it over with my dad and he agreed it would be the perfect fit for me so we made plans to take a look at it the next day.

This morning I went to see what other information I could glean from the web, to my surprise the listing was gone I figured it had been on the market for almost two years and maybe the company just pulled the ad.   It didn’t slow me down we went to the house and my dad pointed a few things out that I hadn’t noticed the day before, feeling even better about it I call the realtor to try and arrange a viewing. No answer just a machine, No biggie its a Sunday on a three day weekend they were all probably out showing houses.  Right?

With even more questions about the property I hit the web again to see what I could find and then it hit me the house was under contract.  Someone, another smart investor seeing the potential of this little house had beat me to it. I know everything happens for a reason but come on. From jokingly looking for houses, to finding the this little gem that I could afford near the heart of the town I love, to finding out that I missed the chance of making it mine by hours what a weekend.   All I can do now is sit back and hope that this person biffs something and voids the contract.  This won’t drag me down the search must go on… Stay tuned & Happy Valentines Day!

Fun With Words: Dromomania

The coffee shop I frequent has a daily question that if you know the answer you get your drink for free.  The questions are always very random and seldom simple or straight forward.  Today they asked for the definition of dromomania, I had no clue so I looked at the answer and what I found describes me to the proverbial “T” check it out.

Main Entry: dromomania
Part of Speech: n

Lost and Found

So my last post was on March 23, thats about ten months ago does anyone know were summer went because I don’t. We have a new president, the weathers starting to feel a little more like spring and American Idol is back on… Just kidding on that last one but its been a busy couple of months. I have traveled nearly eleven thousand miles for work over the summer. I manged a little time around the boat shows and demos to get out and take some photos, over the next couple of weeks I’ll start editing them and getting them up when I can. Not surprisingly the boat show season has started again I just got back from the Strictly Sail Show in Chicago. With eight show in all corners of the country on my plate it looks like its going to be another busy summer.
